Canadian Journal of Irish Studies - Special Issue - Culture of Cities

The guest editors for a forthcoming special issue of the Canadian Journal of Irish Studies are now accepting papers for consideration. The special issue will focus on themes under investigation on the Culture of Cities Project based at York University, Toronto.  The Culture of Cities Project  is a SSHRC-funded interdisciplinary research project comparing the culture of cities in Toronto, Montreal, Dublin, and Berlin.  Our conception of culture centres on sites and phenomena where the struggle by cities to retain, articulate and celebrate their particularity in the face of the homogenizing forces of globalization are most forcefully brought to view.  In this respect we seek papers that are alive to the tension of place, and the resistances to, and re-workings of global forces to be found in each of the cities under study.

Abstracts/expressions of interest should be sent by October 15th, and final papers will be due by November 15th.
